April 2022 Newslsetter

Hi Brookfield Horse & Pony Club members,

Attached is the April newsletter to keep you up to date with upcoming BHPC activities and news. I have included rider class notes at the end of the newsletter to help with your preparation for rider class at our Sporting Gymkhana muster in June. Please send me your stories and photos of any equine activities you have attended for the newsletter.

April is a busy month for our Club!! With many away on school holidays or in COVID isolation, our camp has been postponed, although for some keen riders Sasha is still giving jumping lessons on Sunday morning, and Erika is running a fun games session.

Our muster is on Sunday 24 April, with lots of activities to help riders prepare for the Sporting Gymkhana at the June muster. The newsletter includes some details and more will be sent out closer to the date.

On Monday 25 April, our club is involved in the ANZAC Day remembrance at Brookfield, with our canteen running all day. More volunteers are still needed for the canteen on ANZAC Day. Please consider lending a hand to help to spread the load. Please sign up to your preferred shift by following this link https://form.jotform.com/220831614841047

Our annual Pony Club horse troop is involved as part of the later ceremony before the Shell Green cricket match on ANZAC Day. Pony Club members lead their horses in pairs in a troop line onto the oval, led by riders of the Light Horse, honouring the horses that were sent to war. They line up behind the Army XI and Brookfield cricket teams along with Armoured Vehicles for the remembrance, including recital of the Ode and the Last Post. The horses then leave the oval before the Shell Green cricket match which re-enacts the match played on the beach at Gallipoli during preparations for the allied troops’ withdrawal.

When: Monday 25 April at 10.15 am for the parade at approx 11.00 am and completion around 12.00
Where: Parking of floats in the cemetery paddock and gathering on the grassy area for lineup and troop practice
with instructors
Who: Horse to be presented with neat and clean natural presentation in bridle; handler to be in formal Pony
Club uniform including helmet.
Parents can accompany junior handlers as required.

Please let Sandy know if you are coming on ANZAC Day with your horse to take part in our Pony Club troop

Regards
Sandy
