APRIL 2023 Newsletter

Hi BHPC riders,

I have attached the April 2023 newsletter to keep you informed about Pony Club activities. There is information about our recent fabulous BHPC camp at Fernvale, PCQ and zone events, as well as some handy tips for horse owners. I welcome your photos and stories of your equestrian activities throughout the year to include in the newsletter. I hope you are all excited about riding at our Sporting Gymkhana muster on Sunday 23 April!!

April Muster: Sunday 23 April

9 am Start – 3 pm Finish (approximately) – We will start with a line-up on the Showgrounds at 9 am before breaking into groups for the different events.

This Sporting Gymkhana (Informal Ribbon Day) is the first of our 2 competition Ribbon Day gymkhanas. Results from these 2 days add up to give us our Group Winners at the end of the year. Riders come in Informal uniform with horses clean and well presented, but not plaited, and gear well looked after.  The programme will be: Rider Class, Show Jumping (Top Score) and 6 games (bending, bounce pony, drum & peg, stockhorse challenge, clover leaf, In & out the paddock).

Our special guest rider class judge will be Julie Jelley who runs the horse events at the Brookfield Show and is a past-Chief Instructor at BHPC. Julie will give rider class tips and advice to each group, and then judge this event. You can start practising the games at home!!! You can find rules of the games on the PCQ website at SPORTING, & CAMPDRAFTING RULE BOOK (ponyclubqld.com.au). For show jumping rules, go to 2023-Rules-for-Showjumping-January.pdf (ponyclubqld.com.au).

Please let Sandy know if you are coming or not coming to the muster by 5 pm Wednesday 19 April – email chiefinstructor@brookfieldponyclub.org.au or text 0400 952 002. This is important to allow rider groups and instructors to be organised and for catering purposes.

Rules and regulations

Hendra Virus vaccination requirements – As per our BHPC bylaws, no horse is to be brought to a BHPC muster, camp or clinic unless it is registered with the Club, and its current Hendra vaccination certificate has been provided showing full immunity.
