April 2024 Newsletter

Hi BHPC members,

I hope you are all gearing up for lots of fun and learning with your horses at our BHPC camp this weekend and the April Sporting Gymkhana muster on 28 April.

I have attached the April 2024 newsletter to keep you informed about Pony Club activities. I welcome your photos and stories of your equestrian activities throughout the year to include in the newsletter.

BHPC camp  – 12 – 14 April – kindly sponsored by The Leg Vein Doctor

We will be onsite from 12 midday to greet you, and show you where to offload horses, where you can set up your camp, and where to leave your horse float. Remember to bring 2 paper copies of your completed Horse & Participant Health Declaration form (form attached). Fernvale Showgrounds PIC number is QBES1193. There will also be a Roster Sheet – all families will be required to sign up for various jobs during Camp. All manure and hay must be removed from the Grounds, so please bring a couple of hessian chaff bags or feed bags for this purpose. We will have the use of the Community Hall, cold room and kitchen, but if you require power to your site, bring a couple of long power leads. Woolworths, a famous pie shop and a hardware and feed store are close by.

April Muster: Sunday 28 April – kindly sponsored by Brisbane Smiles

8 am Start – 2 pm Finish (approximately) – We will start with a line-up on the Showgrounds at 8 am before breaking into groups for the different events. We will also hold our usual adult rider lesson at 7 am in the long yard.

This Sporting Gymkhana (Informal Ribbon Day) is the first of our 2 competition Ribbon Day gymkhanas. Results from these 2 days add up to give us our Group Winners at the end of the year, and times are used to determine our BHPC 2024 Champion Sports Rider. Riders come in Informal uniform with horses clean and well presented, but not plaited, and gear well looked after.  The programme will be: Rider Class, Show Jumping (Power and Speed) and 6 games (bending, bounce pony, drum & peg, stockhorse challenge, Nambour nuisance, In & out the paddock).  After the presentation, we will have a 6-bar show jumping practice for those riders who wish to take part.

We will have a special guest rider class judge who will give rider class tips and advice to each group, and then judge this event. You can start practising the games at home!!! You can find rules of the games on the PCQ website.

Could all riders please let Sandy know if you are coming or not coming to the muster by 5 pm Monday 22 April – email chiefinstructor@brookfieldponyclub.org.au or text 0400 952 002. This is important to allow rider groups and instructors to be organised.

Looking forward to seeing you all at camp and the April muster.
