March 2024 Newsletter

Hi BHPC members,

I hope you are all gearing up for lots of fun and learning with your horses at the March muster next Sunday and our BHPC camp only a few weeks away.

I have attached the March 2024 newsletter to keep you informed about Pony Club activities. I welcome your photos and stories of your equestrian activities throughout the year to include in the newsletter. Many thanks to Liz Terry for Part 3 of her Snowy Mountains adventure with her horse Ivan, and Freya Bates for her report on pony racing with her pony Alex.

March Muster: Sunday 24 March – kindly sponsored by Brisbane Smiles

8 am Start – 2 pm Finish

Our March muster will be held in the Brookfield Reserve (cemetery paddock) as the Brookfield Cricket Team have made the finals and we have relinquished the Showground so that they can play the final on their home ground. This will mean floats will be parked along the fenceline in the cemetery paddock and in the car park, with horses tied to floats for the breaks. Any horse that really needs a stable can use the stable block, although access will be a bit limited.

The muster will start with a lineup in the cemetery paddock at 8 am before breaking into groups for different activities which will include flatwork, Derby (show jumps and cross country jumps), games and introduction to a new PCA activity horse archery. Body protectors will be compulsory for those riders jumping cross country fences at the March muster.

There will be an adult rider lesson held on the Rita O’Hanlon arena at 7 am.

** Can all riders please let Chief Instructor Sandy know if you are coming or not coming to the muster by 5 pm Wednesday 20 March, email or text 0400 952 002.

The muster timetable will be sent out late this week after rider groups are known.

Younger riders who are feeling tired do not have to stay for the entire muster and can leave earlier if they need to. All riders please let your instructor know if you are leaving early.

The newsletter has more details regarding the muster.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the March muster.
